In my work with Augmentativ and Alternativ Communication (AAC), I am concerned in finding strategies, approaches and tools that can support a person's ability to express themselves in accordance with their own intentions.
People with major communication challenges are often dependent on the interlocutor's ability to interpret, guide into possibilities of expression and navigate in a communication system.
AAC and music, with their respective strengths and elements, facilitate communication, social interaction, expression of emotions and neural connections via the capacity of interaction.
People with functional diversity and/or special needs have an even greater challenge. Often it is precisely through contact through music that they can communicate and participate in this interaction.
When working with music and AAC, it is essential to have available communication boards, the possibility to choose the desired song and understand the lyrics of the song.
Through many years of experience, I have developed material that gives the opportunity to share with others the musical moment in an active way. The material is produced based on the needs and functional level of the person or group I work with.
Language and music
Language and communication are important for one's development. Through language we express who we are, our needs, possibilities and limitations.
Language and the language-center in the brain can be compromised for many different reasons. When we deal with music, either by playing, listening or singing, many different parts of the brain are activated simultaneously.
In music, this opportunity is used to strengthen language development.
Create your song
It is a human right to be able to express the things you are challenged on, in order to create an overview, insight, possible changes, new patterns of action, and thus development.
Songwriting gives you the opportunity to put into words the things you need to process. Through songwriting you can express your frustrations, the situation you are in and your wishes and dreams.
Songwriting can also be an opportunity to tell your story via songs and pictures when you don't have language or can express yourself. In collaboration with relatives or staff, a song with personal lyrics can help the client tell his story and many people in the circle can benefit from it.
Songwriting offers many different opportunities both to express one's own needs and desires, or to tell your own story to others.

iPad Orchestra
Playing music with others can be a challenge when the physical possibilities are not present. How can a person with a severe physical disability play with others?
Technology today makes it possible to play instruments on a screen. Many musical/instrumental apps are available online so playing a violin, piano or drums is possible.
iPad orchestra is an offer, where people can meet and be part of a musical activity.
Via the iPad orchestra, I work with skills such as unity, finding one's expression, listening to others, and being able to experience fun and different musical moments together with others.

When you are older and look back on your life, songs can bring back memories you didn't remember you had.
The lyrics of a song pop out, even if you haven't sung it in years. They can bring joy, sadness, you can be moved and you remember the moments and experiences a song awakens in you.
The songs we learn, sing or hear on the musical path of life are part of the musical treasure itself. They help to unite life.
The aim of "Sangblomsten" is to return the treasure of song to all Danes living around the world and where music has been important in their lives.

Music is a unique approach to finding new ways to work with a group or an individual. The elements of music provide alternative ways to create contact and new opportunities for communication.
Working with music is so much more than singing and clapping. I can teach you how!
